This first microscope has a dual light, optical glass lense, and an all-metal framework. It comes with two 10-piece slide kits, each containing 5 biological specimens and 5 blank slides. There’s also a pack of 50 blank slides with 100 cover slips for children to create their own slides, as well as red and blue specimen stains, and a wide range of tools.

The dual light has both incident and transmitted LED light sources that enable children to view opaque objects lit from above as well as translucent specimens lit from below.

The microscope can use either an electrical outlet (adapter included) or three AA batteries (also included). It has coaxial coarse and fine focusing, with focusing control knobs on either side.
